Capture, Storage and Utilization of Carbon Dioxide by Microalgae and Production of Biomaterials

Abstract Carbon dioxide emissions are strongly related to climate change and increase of global temperature. Whilst a complete in producing materials energy traffic transportation systems is already progress circular economy concepts on working, Capture Storage (CCS) Utilisation (CCU) represent technically practicable operative strategies. Both technologies have main challenges high costs, so that further advanced research required obtain feasible options. In this article, the focus mainly CCU using microalgae able use CO 2 as building block for value-added products such biofuels, EPS (Extracellular Polymeric Substances), biomaterials electricity. The results three strains (UTEX 90, CC 2656, 1010) microalgal organism Chlamydomonas reinhardtii discussed. about ideal culture conditions suggest incubation temperature 30 °C, pH between 6.5 7.0, concentrations acetate 1.6 2.3 g L –1 ammonium chloride 0.1 0.5 , addition glucose This green microalga valid model system optimize production biomass, carbohydrates lipids.
